Public Health Symposium and TB Chest Camp

March 24, 2022

Governor House Lahore

Overview

Infection Prevention and Control Foundation celebrated World TB Day by organizing a Public Health Symposium and a TB Chest Camp at the Governor House Lahore on March 24, 2022. The symposium was organized in collaboration with PTP Punjab, Mercy Corps, Gulab Devi Hospital Lahore, and WHO Pakistan.

TB remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious killers. Pakistan has the sixth-largest population in the world and has the fifth greatest burden of TB. With an estimated 27,000 drug-resistant TB cases each year, Pakistan also ranks 6th for drug-resistant TB among the 30 high burden countries.

We aim to screen masses for TB and establish referral linkages for the diagnosed patients. This year, IPAC Foundation organized their first TB Chest Camp in the Governor House, Lahore, and gave out a message to the general public to come and get themselves screened. The COVID-19 pandemic has reversed years of progress made in the fight to end TB, and as per this year’s WHO theme; Invest to End TB. Save Lives, there was an urgent need for the political influencers to invest resources to ramp up the fight against TB and achieve the commitments to end TB made by global leaders.
