Overview

On August 13, 2024, VFAHT-HBS, VFAHT-RMU, and VFAHT-FMC collaborated to organize a hepatitis screening camp at Government Girls High School, Pandora Chungi, Rawalpindi. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about hepatitis while providing free screening services to the community, particularly targeting high-risk groups such as healthcare workers and intravenous drug users.

The camp offered rapid tests for Hepatitis B (HBsAg) and Hepatitis C (HCV), along with blood glucose and blood pressure checks. Out of the participants screened, 14 tested positive 5 for Hepatitis B and 9 for Hepatitis C. Participants also received counseling on hepatitis prevention and management, with referrals made for further testing and treatment.

This successful initiative significantly increased awareness about hepatitis prevention and early detection within the community, while fostering partnerships between healthcare providers and local organizations, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in public health.
