Chilya, Thatta
On August 15, 2024 VFAHT-JSMU, in collaboration with Shine Humanity, organized a Hepatitis Screening and Vaccination Camp at SHINE Humanity Chilya Clinic, Thatta, a remote area 116 km from Karachi with limited healthcare access. Our volunteers engaged with over 100 local residents to educate them on hepatitis prevention, addressing both misinformation and the stigma surrounding screening and vaccination.
Out of the 27 individuals screened, 14 tested positive, with 5 cases of Hepatitis B and 9 cases of Hepatitis C. Serving areas like Chilya, Thatta where health resources are limited and misinformation thrives, is essential. By creating awareness, we empowered individuals to take charge of their health and help break down barriers that often prevent them from seeking help.
