On September 18, 2024, VFAHT-GIMS, in collaboration with the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (DGHAN), successfully organized a Hepatitis B & C screening camp at the Liver OPD Waiting Area of Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS). This impactful camp catered to 114 individuals, including patients and their attendees from various routine OPDs.
The screening revealed 10 Hepatitis B and 8 Hepatitis C positive cases. Post-screening, attendees received personalized counseling on preventive measures, the significance of early medical intervention, and the necessity of completing the three-dose Hepatitis B vaccination series. Hepatitis B vaccinations were administered on-site, and those testing positive were referred to DGHAN specialists for further consultation and treatment.
This camp underscored the commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and providing timely medical intervention, particularly for underserved rural communities, contributing to enhanced public health outcomes.
