On October 7, 2025, a free diabetes screening camp was organized at 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐝𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 (𝐂𝐂𝐇𝐂). The camp provided free diabetes screening, medical consultations, and free medications for patients requiring diabetic treatment.
During the camp, patients were educated on the importance of 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 in managing and preventing diabetes. Volunteers from 𝐕𝐅𝐀𝐇𝐓-𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐦 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 & 𝐕𝐅𝐀𝐇𝐓-𝐒𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐨𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 actively participated in the event, offering valuable support and facilitating smooth operations alongside the CCHC team.
A total of 𝟔𝟖 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 underwent random and fasting blood sugar tests, out of which 𝟐𝟐 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝟑𝟐.𝟑𝟓%) 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐥𝐲𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜. This rate is significantly higher than national averages and highlights the growing burden of undiagnosed or uncontrolled diabetes in the community.
These findings underscore the urgent need for regular screening camps, community-based health education, and access to affordable treatment, particularly for individuals at risk of or living with diabetes. Early detection and timely intervention can help prevent complications and improve quality of life.
