Disinfectants are chemical agents, used in liquid form that are an important part of environmental infection control in dentistry. Disinfectants must be efficient enough to kill microbes including bacteria, viruses, mycobacterium, fungi, and bacterial endospore. Disinfection in dentistry has been neglected for many years. This webinar trains dental health care professionals in the selection and use of disinfectants in dental practice, based on current recommendations for COVID-19 infection control in dentistry. The session will be based around real-time audience poll questions and visual presentation of disinfection protocols and recommendations. Participants will be motivated to continue their efforts for infection control during the pandemic. A Q&A session will follow the presentation. IPAC Foundation invites you all to join us on our Facebook page and YouTube channel to watch the webinar live.
Each registered participant will be eligible for a Certificate of Participation with 01 CDE credits (Issued by the University of Health Sciences, Lahore) after completion of a post-webinar online assessment.
By the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:
- Gather equipment, materials, and supplies necessary for dental practice disinfection during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Apply principles of use of disinfectants in dental practice: appropriate concentration (preparation), technique, duration, and disposal.
- Select appropriate disinfectants for different applications in dental practice during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Discuss considerations for disinfection: of the dental clinic environment and air, after an aerosol-generating procedure, of dental unit water, of reusable PPE and waste.
